Highviz vs Hootsuite

Hootsuite is the enterprise control room for social media teams: a shared inbox, approvals, custom reports and every major network in one dashboard. Highviz does the one job it never attempts, reading what’s actually inside your Instagram posts. Here’s the honest split.

Hootsuite’s earned its place at the enterprise end of this market. It’s been running since 2008, it’s an official Instagram Partner, and if you’re a team managing a stack of brands across a stack of networks with people who live in a shared inbox all day, it’s a serious, capable answer. This comparison isn’t about beating it on breadth. It’s about the one question all that breadth doesn’t answer.

What Hootsuite is built for

Hootsuite is an operations dashboard for social teams. You schedule and publish across Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Threads and Pinterest, field every incoming message and comment from one Smart Inbox, route approvals through defined roles, and report on all of it. The reporting side runs deep: hundreds of performance metrics, best time to publish per network and per goal, custom reports you can export to CSV, XLSX, PDF or PowerPoint, monitoring of up to 20 competitors, and industry benchmarking. The Advanced plan tracks spend and return across campaigns.

As of July 2026 the pricing is per user per month, billed annually. Standard is $99 a seat and covers up to 10 social accounts, the Smart Inbox and the core analytics. Professional is $199 a seat, lifts the account limit and adds custom reports and trend forecasting up to 90 days out. Advanced runs up to $399 a seat and adds return-on-spend reporting. Enterprise is custom. There’s a 14-day trial and no permanent free plan.

For a team that has to answer messages, coordinate approvals and send a client a branded report, none of that is optional. It’s the cost of running a real social operation, and Hootsuite runs it well.

What all those metrics never say

Here’s the limit no plan tier fixes. Hundreds of metrics still only describe what happened: this reel got these views, that post got those saves, engagement moved this far. Best time to publish tunes the one variable that matters least, the clock. Competitor benchmarking tells you how often other accounts post and how fast they grow. All of it is outcome, none of it reads the content. Hootsuite’s an Instagram Partner and it can see your posts. It just never looks inside them.

That question, what the winners share that the losers don’t, lives in the pixels. Hootsuite doesn’t go there. Highviz does little else.

What Highviz actually looks at

Highviz reads every post and reel: the dominant colours, faces and where they sit in frame, the objects present, any text on the image, and the way each reel opens. Each attribute ties back to your own engagement history, the differences that hold up become findings with confidence labels, and those findings roll up into a recipe for your account. Score a draft against that recipe before you publish, and on Pro, ask questions about your own data in plain English and get an answer grounded in it.

What a year actually costs

Hootsuite is a per-seat subscription, and a fair one for teams who need the inbox and the approvals and bill the cost onward. Highviz runs the other way: a one-time pack from $14 to $99, sized to your account, reads your content and hands you the findings for good, priced per account instead of per seat. Pro at $14 a month is optional and only adds daily refresh, automatic analysis of new posts, and the question box. Spend $59 once and you can simply stop.

Where each one is the right answer

  • Stay on Hootsuite if you run a team: shared inbox, approval roles, client-ready reports and every major network coordinated from one dashboard.
  • Reach for Highviz if Instagram is the platform that decides your month, and the thing no dashboard answers is what to make next.
  • Run both if you’re an agency or a stretched team: Hootsuite for the operation and the Monday report, Highviz for the strategy line about what the account should actually make. Weighing a pure reporting suite too? We did Highviz vs Iconosquare.
Key takeaway

Hootsuite runs the whole social operation for a team, and it’s worth the seat if that’s your job. But no plan tier reads your posts. Highviz does exactly that, per account instead of per seat, and it’s yours after a single payment.
